How it works
Do you ever find yourself questioning what to fast from during Lent? Well now you don’t have to with our Lenten Wheel of Sacrifice! Simply click to spin the virtual wheel and whatever sacrifice it lands on, you may choose to fast from it for 1 week or the whole 40 days of Lent! If you choose to fast from it for 1 week, be sure to come back and spin again to choose something new for the following week.
When you spin the wheel, we encourage you to commit to the first landing if the sacrifice seems like something you can do! The Holy Spirit may be leading you to fast from something you never thought that you’d need… so essentially, NO RESPINS.
Heroic Minute: As soon as your morning alarm goes off, rise from your bed, kneel or sit up, and say a prayer. Then, go about getting ready for the day. No Snooze Button!
No Eating Out: Refrain from buying ready-made food from restaurants/ fast food places. Take this time to prepare home cooked meals (even fast 10 minute ones).
Sleep on the Floor: Get comfy on the floor with pillows and blankets, but go ahead and give up that comfy Mattress for your night slumber! (If you have any medical condition that may hinder you from doing this we strongly encourage you to spin again and choose something better suited for you)
No TV/ Video Games: Fast from watching Television Shows, News Channels, and from turning on your TV. This can be a great time with God instead!
No Coffee: Fast from coffee or all caffeine!
No Snacking: Refrain from eating snacks and only eat full meals at the allotted time of the day. (If you have any medical condition that may hinder you from doing this we strongly encourage you to spin again and choose something better suited for you)
No Social Media: Fast from ALL social media!
No YouTube/ Netflix/ Streaming Video: Refrain from watching any streaming TV including YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Amazon Prime, and all other Streaming Videos.
Don’t Use Pew Kneelers: Keep those pew kneelers up as you enter the chapel and celebrate Mass. Instead try kneeling on the floor or standing! (If you have any medical condition that may hinder you from doing this we strongly encourage you to spin again and choose something better suited for you)
No Sweets/ Desserts: Fast from eating any desserts or sweet drinks!
Only Water for Drink: You may drink only water when you need something to drink!
No Music in the Car: Refrain from playing any music or having any sound on the radio while driving on your commutes. This will open up time for a dialogue with God.
Grand Silence after 8:00 p.m.: When the clock strikes 8:00 p.m. every night, put away the phones, turn off the TV’s, and remain silent until the next morning. This will be difficult, but a great way to be still with God before you start a new day!
Cold Showers: Only shower with cold water! Brrr!!
Go to Daily Mass: During Lent we have daily Mass at 7:00 a.m. & 12:10 p.m. We hope to see you there!
Pray a Daily Rosary/ Chaplet of Divine Mercy: Pray one of these or both daily!
Pray the Stations of the Cross Daily: Pray Daily!
